The Long Island Rough Riders 1st Annual Kickoff Classic will be including an international club.  The Rough Riders have formally invited the U.S. Triestina’s to travel to the U.S. to participate in this tournament.  The Triestina’s hail from Triest, Italy and were founded in 1918.

Due to the success of the Independence Cup, the Rough Riders have decided to create a new outdoor tournament, the Kickoff Classic.  The tournament is designed for competitive teams to prepare for their upcoming season.

The Rough Riders will be hosting the Kickoff Classic at Long Island Junior Soccer League’s Soccer Park in Plainview, NY.  Soccer Park provides teams with excellent playing conditions, while also conveniently located just minutes from the Long Island Expressway or Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway.

The inagural year will include the following age groups: Boys Under-10, Boys Under-12, Boys Under-13, Girls Under-10, Girls Under-11, Girls Under-12, and Girls Under-13.  Each team will play a minimum of three games, and field sizes are adjusted to better suit player development.

"Our organization is very confident that this tournament will be an extremely sucessful event," said Rough Riders President Peter Zaratin.  "The inclusion of an international club definitely provides an added value to the tournament.  We are expanding our relationships overseas, and look forward to inviting additional international clubs for next years Kickoff Classic."

The tournament begins early Saturday morning, and will conclude just before dark. 

“We are proud to host one of Long Island’s premier youth soccer tournaments,” said Tournament Director Meghan Frey. “It’s great to know that players and parents alike can enjoy a fun-filled Saturday of soccer.”

Fans and players can spend the whole day at the park, as it features a large spectator area and a full concession stand. Bagels, burgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, and all types of snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Bring chairs, tents, and the whole family to enjoy a fun day of soccer!
